A Warm Welcome!

Welcome to Rally School Ireland! This Sensory Story has been created to help visitors – especially those with sensory sensitivities, autism, or anxiety about new experiences – understand what to expect before their visit. It describes what you might see, hear, smell, touch, and taste during your time here so that you can feel prepared and relaxed.

Arrival & Car Park

When you arrive at Rally School Ireland, you’ll drive through a countryside road surrounded by fields. You’ll see signs for Rally School Ireland as you approach the entrance.

  • Sight: The car park is outdoors, with tarmac surfaces. You will see cars parked, rally vehicles, and open space. 50 car park spaces available with 2 accessible bays available.
  • Sound: You might hear car engines running, staff talking, or laughter from other visitors.
  • Smell: Sometimes you may notice fuel or rubber smells from the rally cars.
  • Touch: The ground may feel uneven or gravelly underfoot.
  • Taste: There is tea, coffee, water and biscuits provided.

After signing in at reception, you’ll be taken directly to the track for your safety briefing, which takes place inside a blue Subaru vehicle.

  • Sight: The blue Subaru, the track area, other vehicles moving nearby, and open outdoor surroundings.
  • Sound: Engines running, instructors speaking, and general activity around the track.

Track Area & Cars

The track is the main action zone, where visitors can watch cars navigating the rally course or take part themselves under instructor supervision.

  • Sight: Fast-moving cars, bright colours, helmets, instructors in safety gear, and the open track surroundings.
  • Sound: Loud engine revs, tyre skids, and general track noise — a naturally noisy environment.
  • Smell: Strong scents of petrol, exhaust fumes, and rubber from the cars and track surface.
  • Touch: Steering wheels, helmets, safety harnesses, balaclavas, and any surfaces inside the vehicles.
  • Taste: Not applicable during this activity.

Note: Ear defenders are not provided, as all customers must wear helmets in the cars. Visitors are welcome to bring and use their own ear defenders while watching the activity from the viewing areas.
